THE RUNNING TOWARDS
Insight
We were asked to shout about London Fire Brigade during the London Design Festival, because this much underfunded organisation needed some public love which has wavered in recent years. Luckily, the London Fire Brigade has an incredibly rich design heritage – from red fire engines to yellow helmets and the iconic Warning: Risk of Fire Symbol.
Idea
We collaborated with London's best creative talent to reimagine the Warning: Risk of Fire Symbol for a 21st century audience, focusing on contemporary issues which matter to them. From the climate emergency to narratives about diversity, we engaged the creative community in London Fire Brigade's unwavering commitment to the city's population.
This was part of a wider show named The Running Towards which was held at Shoreditch Fire Station during London Design Festival. The exhibition saw KesselsKramer collaborate with Studio Sutherl& and Tom Sharp, amongst others to make everything from giant poems to posters. The Running Towards celebrated an unflinching embodiment of the firefighters’ bravery, with the further aim of inspiring the multiple-audiences to look for that same spirit within themselves.
This exhibition won a D&AD Pencil in 2023.
